
New Georgian Ballet , or New Georgian Ballet ( Georgian ახალი ქართული ბალეტი; English. New Georgian Ballet ) is an entrepreneurial theater of modern dance, founded in Tbilisi ( Georgia ) in 1993 by the Georgian choreographer Tamaz Vashakidze .
The “Russian ballet of Dyagilev” served as an aesthetic landmark in the creation of the theater, and the principle of the enterprise , used by Sergey Dyagilev for the organization of “Russian seasons”, served as the organizational principle.
Debut
The role of artistic director of the new theater was assumed by the national artist of Georgia Tamaz Vashakidze. Tutors were made by Georgian folk artists Vera Tsignnadze and Zurab Kikaleishvili, and honored artist of Georgia Tsiskari Balanchivadze.
The first number, which was staged in the new-born theater, was “We Begin” on the potpourri from the works of Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Wagner, Rimsky-Korsakov, Liszt (at the beginning the battle of the Kremlin chimes sounded). Mata Hari
2004 was marked by the staging of the dramatic play “Mata Hari” to the music of Sergei Prokofiev, Gogi Dzodzuashvili and the songs of Edith Piaf. This production was a synthesis of dramatic art and classical ballet.

Grand Waltz
In 2004, Tamaz Vashakidze, artistic director of the contemporary dance theater “New Georgian Ballet” (“New Georgian Ballet”), staged the ballet “The Big Waltz” to the music of Johann Strauss. The premiere of the play took place - for the first time in the homeland of Balanchine! - January 22, 2004 at the Tbilisi State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater. Z. Paliashvili in the framework of the "Evening in memory of George Balanchine", dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the great compatriot and the birthday of Vakhtang Chabukiani.
In 2005, at the invitation of the Agency for Culture and Cinematography of the Russian Federation, Tamaz Vashakidze, artistic director of the Modern Dance Theater “New Georgian Ballet” (“New Georgian Ballet”), in collaboration with the Russian Ballet Theater (artistic director Vyacheslav Gordeyev) staged the ballet “Great Waltz” ", The world premiere of which took place in Moscow in the concert hall of them.
