Geography

The city of Ceska Trebova is located in the north-east of the Czech Republic, in the district of Usti nad Orlici , in the Pardubice Region . It is one of the oldest and most significant cities in eastern Bohemia. Lies in a valley, surrounded by mountains, in an area called Cheskotřebovsko . Since the middle of the XIX century - a large railway junction.

Industry

In 1849 , for the maintenance of the Česká Třebov – Brno line , railway workshops were opened here for the repair and maintenance of steam locomotives . In 1966, repair of diesel locomotives was started in these workshops; since 1988, repair of electric locomotives . The last repaired steam locomotive was repaired in 1972. In 1992, the railway workshops were privatized - now it is the CZ LOKO plant . The company is engaged in the repair, modernization and production of new diesel locomotives [2] .

History

It was first mentioned in writing in 1278 under the name Tribovia . In 1304, Czech king Wenceslas II (German Wenzel II ) transferred the Czech- Trebov monastery to the Königsal monastery. In the same year, the city received commercial law. After the Hussite wars again passed into the hands of secular rulers who changed many times. In 1636, during the Thirty Years War, the city ​​almost completely burned out. Big fires repeated in 1745 and 1792. In 1848, Ceska Třebová gained independence. After the railway line was brought here in 1845, industrial development began, primarily in the textile and machine-building (from the beginning of the 20th century) industries.
