The position of Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (VGKT ) ( English Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, SACT ) was created in 2002 as part of the overall process of transforming the NATO command structure.
The CGT carries out its command functions from the headquarters of the NATO Strategic Command Transformation in Norfolk (Virginia, USA) . The headquarters of the United States Interspecies Command is also based there.

Role and Responsibilities
VGKT is one of two strategic commanders of NATO and heads the NATO Strategic Transformation Command .
The CGT is accountable to the NATO Military Committee , the highest military governing body of NATO, for advancing the process of transforming the forces and assets of the North Atlantic Alliance, as well as for leading this process; plays a leading role at the strategic level in the transformation of the military structures, armed forces, capabilities and doctrines of NATO in order to increase its combat capability.
Together with the NATO Strategic Command for Operations, he conducts an analysis of NATO’s operational requirements to determine the type, size and priority of future requirements for forces and facilities, taking into account interoperability requirements, and to use the results in the overall NATO defense planning process.
The CGT also guides the process of exploring new concepts and doctrines through experimentation and the promotion of research, development and acquisition of new technologies and hardware.
The CGT is responsible for the NATO education and training programs designed to provide NATO with personnel trained according to NATO common standards and capable of operating effectively as part of multinational contingents.
Other tasks assigned to the Supreme Allied Commander for Transformation include:
- Managing shared resources allocated to NATO's transformation programs to find timely, cost-effective solutions in response to operational needs
- Facilitate the fulfillment of the requirements of the NATO Strategic Command for exercises in the planning, implementation and evaluation stages.
A candidate for the position of the CGT is nominated by a NATO member state and approved by the North Atlantic Council.
The term of tenure on the posts of the VGKT is not stipulated.
History
From 2002 to 2009 at the posts of the UGKT, he was the highest officer of the US armed forces with the rank of general or admiral, at the same time he was the commander of the Interspecific Command of the US armed forces , who was responsible for maximizing the combat capability of the US military forces and equipment.
