Story

Thon Houvan, a student of the Tangshan School, greets guests who come to Master Jong Samthai, Master Houvan’s, on the occasion of his victory in a martial arts tournament. Not having time to hang the winner's signboard, Samthay sees the unexpectedly arrived master of the neighboring school Chun Kimkuan at the door. The guest declares that the sign belongs to him, arguing that, although Samthay and having won the tournament, he did not fight it. Samthay accepts the call of an uninvited guest. The battle takes place in the courtyard of the Samthai school, at the end of which Kimkuan strongly beats up Samthai. Beaten agrees to give the sign. As he leaves, Kimkuan cracks the sign of Samthai’s school.

While dying, Samthai asks Houvan to take care of his daughter Munlan and wife. The guy promises the teacher to take revenge and revive the school. Samthay dies.

Kimkuan accepts congratulations guests in his school. He asks his daughter Chhauphin to call his wife. Chhauphin finds his mother hanged. Kimkuan finds a suicide note in which it is said that he killed Samthai on the pretext of a duel, because it hurt her malice because she had once loved Samthaya. The hanged woman also wants her husband to stand up for justice and learn tolerance - only in this case her soul will find peace. After reading the note, Kimkuan cuts off his leg.

Unknown kill workers on floating logs. At the request of one of the hard workers to have pity, the main gang refuses, because the workers "saw everything." In the same place gangsters find the bags, which they intend to hide afterwards. For all of this is watching one of the hidden workers. The corpse of the killed worker found in the river by local residents. They decide to report this to Master Chun.

Kimkuan watches the fight of his students, Fonkon and Namsin, at the end of which the teacher admits that the second is making progress. Having offered his daughter to fight, the owner of the school sees students carrying a corpse from a river. The master says that this is the sixth corpse. Pupils suggest that Ngai Chonglun, the head of one of the schools, is involved in the murder. The assumption is confirmed by the hidden witness of the murder, reporting that he had seen the fat man Hoya. Kimkuan orders two students who have fought to search for and bring the fat man.

Having come to Chonglong, two of them demand that a fat man be extradited so that their school can interrogate and investigate him. Chonglong and his people convince the guests that they do not have the wanted one, which is why they leave. The henchmen propose to Cheonglun to destroy the Tepity school (the so-called Kimkuan school) and eventually agree that this requires an excuse and support from the outside.

Houvan, Munlan and her mother travel along the river in order to find the killer of the master of their school. Local guys from the house of Cheonluna, after seeing Munlan, decide to join. The main one, Siusam, wants to look at the thing at Houvan behind his back, to which he offers the curious to pay with his foot. The boys leave. While in the temple, in which the widow of the deceased wanted to go, Houvan decides to leave. In a conversation with the following, Moonlan Houvan expresses concern for the future of his companions if he fails to take revenge. Samthaya's daughter reassures that she will protect herself. Houvan leaves.

Strolling, the young man stumbles upon the same guys who want to fight him. Appearing Chhauphin force tries to stop them. In the fight enters Houvan. The boy, who was with the girl, leads to the help of Fonkon and Namsin. Seeing the two who came, Houvan says the girl that he had arrived to collect the debt, and leaves. Foncon decides to tell the teacher about the arrival of Samthai's student.

Learning of this, Kimkuan gathers all his students. At the meeting, the host of Tolerance encourages students to be restrained when Houvan arrives.

Lousam, a Cheonluna henchman, informs him of Houvan’s arrival and expresses confidence that the guests have come to avenge Kimkuan. Chonglong asks Lousam to arrange it so that Houvan accurately deals with Kimquan.

Apprentice Samthaya informs Munlan that he has sought out the enemy. The widow convinces the fighter not to show cruelty, it will be enough just to win the fight.

At the meeting, the master of "Tolerance" proposes to postpone the fight for three days. Three guests accept the condition and leave the school. After that, Kimkuan watches as the Foncon secretly leaves the school grounds.

After returning to the hotel, Houvan and Munlan hear screams during a conversation about the condition put forward and the restoration of justice. The widow feels pain after tea and says she heard someone's footsteps. The guy asks Moonlan to look after his mother. After leaving in his room, Houvan sees Fonkon. The uninvited guest believes that his teacher is not to blame for anything, and the losers should blame only themselves. Seeing the persistence of Houvan, Foncon wants to appreciate the skill of Houvan, which ends with the victory of the second in a duel.

After returning to school, Fonkon conducts a conversation with his teacher, during which Kimkuan confesses that he knows where his student went and that he lost. Phoncon asks him to teach foot art. Kimkuan thinks it would be better if Foncon finds out a fat man to testify against Cheonglong.

Upon the arrival of Houvan and his companions at a duel, Chkhatsphin takes them to a distant building. Kimkuan, who was there, explains that he wanted to settle the conflict on the day his wife died. At the request of Houvan to repair the broken sign of his school, which he brought with him, the owner of "Tolerance" immediately presents them with a new sign. Representatives of the Tangshan School see Kimkuan's severed leg in a casket under a signboard. A cripple reports that he regrets what he has done in relation to them, which is why he changed the name of the school and cut off his leg. Widow stops Houvan, intending to hit Kimkuan. In her opinion, the conflict is settled, and to attack the cripple is wrong.

Lousam reports to the owner about the incident, while assuring that the guy is still done with the old man and will even serve Cheonlun.

The doctor, after examining the widow of Samthai, believes that she has an unknown disease, and only the secret drug Cheonlong can help. The doctor agrees to arrange a meeting with Houvan Cheonglong.

A young man brings gifts to Chonglun and reports on improving his condition. But since it requires regular medication, Houvan is forced to ask for more. The guy offers to pay any price, but since he has little money, Chonglong offers the job of a bodyguard. Houvan is forced to agree even though he will have to face the people of the School of Tolerance (to convince the young man, Lousam assures him that Kimkuan chopped off his leg not from shame, but to save his life).

Performing a new job, Houvan with the people of the Cheonglong attacks small groups of students of Tolerance. Having beaten them, they threaten to sort out their entire “sect” soon.

When Houvan was accidentally met with Chhauphin, she urged him to give up work, because Chonglong was the sworn enemy of her family. That, in turn, says that he has no choice. In addition, he does not like the fact that Samthai is dead, and her father is alive. Disillusioned with the guy, Chhauphin beats him as well as Namsin who suddenly appeared. Having managed to fight back, Houvani is removed.

Samthaya's widow shares that her pain now disappears only after a larger number of medicine pills. Houvan considers this an unkind sign.

Phoncon and Namsin secretly leave school, deciding to stop some kind of smuggling. They are followed by a boy from their school, and on the way behind him he is abducted. Having witnessed smuggling, two are trying to detain the criminals - a fight and a chase begins.

Lousam leads Houvan to the place where the kidnapped unconscious boy lies. Houvan recognizes him (he was with Chhauphin when she tried to stop a fight) and therefore tries to regain him. Suddenly arriving at the place of Foncon and Namsin, accuse Houvan of killing a boy. The new bodyguard of Cheonluna stops the attempt of his new comrades to crack down on the two people of “Tolerance” and allows them to leave with the body of the boy, taking all the responsibility to his boss.

Those who met Fonkon and Namsin Chhauphin learned from them that Houvan was guilty of the boy’s death. Kimkuan learns about this.

These two students stumble upon Siusam. Taking advantage of the opportunity, two of them beat him to find out where the fat man is. Beaten agrees to help.

Phoncon and Namsin penetrate into the courtyard of the estate, beat the guards, and in one of the rooms they catch a fat man. By grasping the wanted person, the two are asked to tell Cheonlong that when the fat man confesses everything, they will finish off the Cheonglong gang.

Kimkuan, confident that the fat man admits everything, expresses his readiness to go to the dismantling of Chonglun, because of what he asks Fonkon to bring the fat man. The disciple finds the dead fat man with a knife stuck in it. The teacher admits that things are bad, because now they don’t have a witness, and when Chonglun finds out about the death of his person, he will blame his school for this.

Chonglong, having learned about the seizure of a fat man, orders Houvan to go after him, and if they refuse, to smash their school. At first, the guy refuses to perform this task, but, upon learning that after completing the work, he will receive a prescription for preparing a drug for the widow Samthai, he agrees.

Kimkuan's daughter comes to Samthai's widow. Chhauphin informs her that Houvan does bad things while working for Cheonglong, and asks the three of them to go back home. Seeing Chhauphin leaving the hotel, Samthaya's student tells her that he did not kill their boy. Munlan decides to talk to the guy about what the guest said. He admits that he has no choice because of the state of her mother, but in his words he has to do more “something” before the three of them can return home.

Chonglong with his people, having come to the school of "Tolerance", demand from her master to return them a fat man. Kimkuan, in turn, calls Cheonglong a criminal, while he admits that he has no evidence for this. Houvan calls to give the prisoner in good. Foncon refuses, then attacks with Namsin on Houvan. Chhauphin enters the fray. Chonglong, seeing that his new bodyguard does not want to kill his opponents, orders Lousam to "act." Kimkuan, and after him, the people of the Cheonglong fight. Fonkon, having received a command from Cheonluna, attacks Kimkuan. The traitor, who revealed himself, admits that he deliberately lured the boy to be killed, and slandered Houvan - he did everything to embroil Samthai’s student with the school of “Tolerance”. Lousam confirms that he persuaded Foncon to seize the fat man and then kill him in the manor to give way to the “Tolerance” as revenge. Chonglun demands that Houvan be killed by the three remaining people - Chhauphin, her father and Namsin, otherwise he threatens to kill him. He refuses and beats Lousam. The people of Cheon Long are led by captured Moonlan and her mother. According to the chief of Houvan, he gave the widow poison, which he poured into the Foncon tea, and when Houvan fulfills the order, the old woman will receive an antidote, and the three of them will be able to return, and otherwise the hostages will be killed. The widow commits suicide after calling for Houvan to take care of Munlan. In the ensuing brawl, Fonkon dies from Kimkuan's staff, while Lousam and Cheonglun beat Houvan to death. The remaining Cheonglong people flee. Houvan and Munlan mourn a widow.

Reviews

Calvin McMillin (LoveHKFilm.com) [6] :

Although Dragon Fist is not a classic of the genre, it is more than a typical martial arts movie.

Boris Khokhlov (HKCinema.ru) [7] :

If we abstract from the release year of The Dragon's Fist, the film is very good - it has a completely convincing drama, it has a detective intrigue and it has a great action, a little old-fashioned, but nevertheless extremely well-made and performed.

Will Kouf (Silver Emulsion Reviews) [8] :

This is not the most exciting movie or film that stands out from other Kung Fu films of that era, but it is a good movie in itself, and it is impressively well written for the low-budget Kung Fu movie.

Andrew Saroch (Far East Films) [9] :

Jackie Chan was given one of his more serious roles, and he achieves excellent results in both the acting and the combat unit.

Ein Friel (The Action Elite) [10] :

Dragon Fist is one of my favorite Jackie Chan movies with amazing (and consistent) fighting scenes that easily outpace most of today's high-budget action movies.

World Film Geek [11] :

The Dragon's Fist is by far the best of Luo and Chan’s collaborations, thanks to plot twists, not to mention Chan’s beautiful and precise choreography.

Anthony Gates (easternKicks.com) [12] :

Luo Wei again fails in an attempt to make Jackie his new Bruce in this cool, though not at all terrible, story of revenge ...
