Koriyama ( 郡山 市 Koriyama-si ) is the central city of Japan , located in the east of Honshu Island in Fukushima Prefecture. The area of the city is 757.06 km² [1] , the population is 328 698 people (August 1, 2014) [2] , the population density is 434.18 people / km². It was founded on April 1, 1924 , and received central status on April 1, 1997.

Content
Economics
The city has developed textile, electric machine-building, aluminum and food flavoring industries. A significant part of the textile industry is the production of cotton fabrics and silk products. Koriyama is a major transportation hub.

Symbols
Yamazakura was chosen as the tree of the city, ordinary cuckoo was the bird, and Hanakatsumi was the flower [3] .
