Ludwig Schubert ( German: Ludwig Schuberth , also Louis Schubert ; April 18, 1806 , Magdeburg - 1850 , St. Petersburg ) - German conductor and composer. The representative of an extensive musical family, the son of Gotlob Schubert , the brother of Julius and Karl Schubert.

Biography
He studied under his father, then under Karl Maria von Weber ; also, together with his brother Karl, studied the cello playing under the direction of Friedrich Dotzauer . From the age of 12 he played in the orchestra of the Magdeburg Opera, and at the age of 16 he was appointed its bandmaster. Then he was the court bandmaster in Oldenburg , he worked in Riga , Danzig and Königsberg , without leaving also playing the cello (and sometimes the double bass). From 1845 until the end of his life he headed the German Opera in St. Petersburg. He published a number of chamber compositions (quartets, trios, piano sonatas), Schubert's operas and symphonies remained unreleased.
