Biography

In 1960 he graduated from high school. In 1962 he graduated from the installation college. He worked and continued his studies in absentia.

In 1971, the Archbishop of Riga and Latvia, Leonid (Polyakov), received monastic tonsure tonsured as a monk and was ordained a hierodeacon , then he was ordained a hieromonk , after which he served in the parish ministry in the Riga diocese .

In 1977 he graduated in absentia from the Moscow Theological Academy .

In 1980 he was elevated to the rank of abbot .

In 1980-1983 he was dean of the Madona district of the Riga diocese .

In 1982-1983 - Secretary of the Riga Diocesan Administration.

In 1983 he was accepted into the number of inhabitants of the revived Danilov Monastery (Moscow). According to the memoirs of V. S. Lupandin, he began to serve in the monastery from the end of 1985, and was soon appointed economist of the monastery [1] .

In 1986 he was elevated to the rank of archimandrite , headed the department for the construction and restoration of the Danilov Monastery.

In 1987 he was transferred to the Leningrad diocese , was appointed head of restoration and construction.

In 1988 he was transferred to Tallinn and appointed rector of the cathedral Alexander Nevsky .

On September 18, 1989, the Council of Ministers of Karelia decided to “transfer for use” the Leningrad Diocese the Transfiguration Cathedral with an inner square and the adjacent monasteries except Voskresensky and Gethsemane [2] . On October 6, 1989 he was appointed governor of the Valaam Monastery , which was only to be revived [3] . October 1, 1990 became a member of the Synodal Commission for the revival of religious and moral education and charity.

Since November 22, 1990 - Member of the Commission of the Holy Synod on the preparation of amendments to the Charter on the administration of the Russian Orthodox Church .

As Alexy Segen wrote: “In 1990, this enterprising bishop will create, under the auspices of his economic service, the joint stock company International Economic Cooperation, which will successfully engage in investment banking, industrial and commercial activities, and most importantly, export oil. This sphere of activity of the Moscow Patriarchate will become a trump card for those who seek compromising evidence on Patriarch Alexy - they say, look at our bessrebniki! Since February 18, 1992 - member of the commission for the preparation and holding in 1992 of the celebration of the 600th anniversary of the repose of St. Sergius of Radonezh .

On April 21, 1994, he was relieved of his post as chairman of the Economic Administration of the Moscow Patriarchate for health reasons.

On July 19, 1999, the Holy Synod granted his request for retirement for health reasons [8] . Subsequently, he moved to the United States and settled in Florida [9] .

Since 2011, the place of his constant ministry was the church of the Holy Martyr Andrei Stratilat in St. Petersburg Florida [10] .
