Content
Story
1877 year . In the small town of Hickorville, a strong and respected Hickory family lives - Sheriff Jim (played by Walter James ) and his three sons: Leo (played by Leo Willis ), Olin (played by Olin Francis) and Harold (played by Harold Lloyd ). The last, the youngest of them, does not have, like them, muscle and desperate decisiveness, so wit and cunning help him in his life, with the help of which he achieves the respect of his father and the love of beautiful Mary (played by Jobina Rolston ).
Interesting Facts
- The storyline of the film resembles the 1921 Tol'able David tape; and is a remake of The White Sheep ( 1924 ).
- Lewis Milestone was the director of most of the film, but because of problems with violating the contract with the Warner Bros. movie studio . He was suspended from work and was not even mentioned in the credits [1] .
- The film is quite noticeably different from Lloyd’s previous “urban” films: “Little Brother” was shot in the countryside ( Glendale , Burbank , Altadena , St. Catalina Island ) [2] .
- In the early 1990s, a restored version of the film was released, two minutes shorter than the original. Nowadays it is available on DVD [3] .
- The working title of the film was “The Mountain Day” [4] .
- For the scene in which Harold climbs onto a tree, for the first time in the history of cinema, such a high elevator was built for a movie camera and an operator [1] .
- Lyap: Harold is on an abandoned ship, long ago, according to the plot, stranded, but at the same time a smoothly swinging horizon is visible: the ship is clearly afloat [5] .
