Pakur ( Hindi पाकुड़ जिला ; English Pakur ) is a county in the Indian state of Jharkhand . It was formed in 1994 from part of the territory of Santhal-Pargana County. The administrative center is the city of Pakur . The area of the district is 1806 km². According to the 2001 All-India Census, the district had a population of 701,664. The adult literacy rate was 30.6%, which is significantly lower than the average Indian level (59.5%). The proportion of urban population was 5.1%.
