Seraikela Kharsavan ( Hindi सराइकेला खरसावाँ जिला ; Seraikela Kharsawan ) is a county in the Indian state of Jharkhand . It was formed in 2001 from part of the territory of West Singhbhum County. The administrative center is the city of Seraikela . The area of the district is 2725 km². According to the 2001 All-India Census, the district had a population of 848,850. The adult literacy rate was 50.7%, which is higher than the average Indian level (59.5%). The proportion of urban population was 16.30%.
