Firozpur ( W. Panj. ਫੇਰੋਜ਼ੇਪੁਰ ਜ਼ਿਲਾ ; English Firozpur ) is a county in the Indian state of Punjab . The administrative center is the city of Firozpur . The area of the district is 5303 km². According to the 2001 All-India Census, the district had a population of 1,746,107. The adult literacy rate was 60.7%, which is slightly higher than the average Indian level (59.5%). The share of urban population was 25.8%. On August 7, 1972, Faridkot County was formed from parts of the territories of the districts of Bhatinda and Firozpur.
