Sergey Leonidovich Dorensky (born December 3, 1931 , Moscow ) is a Soviet and Russian pianist, music teacher. People's Artist of the RSFSR ( 1988 ). Professor of the Moscow State Conservatory named after P.I. Tchaikovsky .

Biography
In 1940-1950 he studied at the Central Music School with G.R. Ginzburg , in 1955 he graduated with honors from his class at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory , in 1957 - graduate school of the conservatory. Laureate of the V World Youth and Student Festival in Warsaw (1955, 1st Prize and Gold Medal), International Piano Competition in Rio de Janeiro (1957, 2nd Prize).
Since 1957 he began teaching activities at the Moscow Conservatory, since 1979 - professor. In 1978, he was elected dean of the piano department and has since been working in this position for almost 20 years, combining it with the head of the special piano department (1994-1997). In 2007, he again headed the department of special piano. Among the students of Dorensky there are winners of many international competitions: Nikolai Lugansky , Denis Matsuev , Vadim Rudenko , Pavel Nersesyan , Alexander Shtarkman , Stanislav Bunin , Olga Kern , Fedor Amirov , Andrey Pisarev , Vladimir Rumyantsev , Ekaterina Mechetina , Philip Kopachevsky, Nikolai Kuznetsov , Maxim Kina other. He never embodied himself in disciples. His task is to help the student himself to reveal himself, and not the image that sounds in Dorensky himself. Never in his life did he try to remake my inner world. I am very grateful to him for this [1] .
Honorary Professor of the Ufa State Academy of Arts (2003). Full member (academician) of the Russian Academy of Creativity.
