Biography
Alexander Konstantinovich Laptev was born on December 26, 1960 in Irkutsk .
In 1983 he graduated from the Physics Department of Irkutsk State University.
From 1989 to 1994 he studied at the correspondence post-graduate course of the Russian Institute of Powerful Radio Engineering in St. Petersburg. On June 22, 1994 he defended the dissertation of a candidate of technical sciences. He has ten publications in scientific journals of the former Soviet Union (for example, in the journal Izvestiya Vuzov SSSR ).
Since 1991, he began to engage in literature.
In November 1993, he won the regional conference “Youth. Creation. Modernity".
In February 1994 he was admitted to the Union of Writers of Russia.
From June 1, 2001 to July 31, 2006, he was Chairman of the Board of the Irkutsk Regional Writing Organization of the Union of Writers of Russia (since 2002, the organization received the status of the "Irkutsk Regional Branch of the Russian Joint Venture").
As a writer, Alexander Laptev works in two genres: science fiction and documentary prose. In his works he professes the ideas of positivism and scientific and technological progress, develops the ideas of Herbert Spencer , Teilhard de Chardin , Henri Bergson , Charles Snow .
Moscow critic A. Trapeznikov describes the creative manner of Alexander Laptev in such a way: “... But Laptev himself is not occupied by a human machine (then, of course, as the creation of artificial intelligence is the philosophical and moral aspects of this problem), but rather human emotions , passions, experiences, that is, those feelings that are the contour of the soul. And the soul is already the prerogative of Russian literature, and it doesn’t matter whether you are a science fiction writer or a realist. Not because Russian literature is all so good and infallible, but it is a tradition based on the works of Lomonosov, Pushkin, Gogol, Dostoevsky, Tolstoy. This is what is of interest to Laptev’s prose - an attempt to see the person of the future in his nature, with his love and suffering, with all new (or old?) Moral values. In this case, of course, the writer creates the appropriate technical surroundings. But what about without starships? That's why it's fantastic ... ". [1] The writer Gleb Goryshin, in the preface to Laptev’s first journal publication, wrote the following: “... Read the story of Alexander Laptev and you will find yourself in a world of true feelings, inspiration, suffering, in a world of expertly selected words reminiscent of Andrei Platonov’s prose”. [2]
In 2005, Alexander Laptev was included in the list of fifty leading science fiction writers of Russia. [3]
Alexander Laptev actively advocates for Lake Baikal, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In 2005, he prepared and published an open letter from Irkutsk writers to Russian President VV Putin (the newspaper Tribuna. East Siberia), in which he expressed concern about the planned construction of an oil pipeline along the northern tip of Lake Baikal (signed by Valentin Rasputin, as well as other writers of Angara). After numerous public protests, this project was rejected by the president.
In 2009 and 2010, Laptev published two articles in Literary Russia sharply condemning the plans of the federal and regional authorities to resume the BPPM work on an open cycle. After that, Literary Russia disappeared from Irkutsk newsstands, which gave the newspaper’s editors an opportunity to send an open letter to the governor of the Irkutsk region [4] ; and at the end of May 2010, the regional writers' organization received an order from the Federal Property Management Agency demanding the release of the premises of the regional House of Writers, which it had occupied for the past 30 years [5] .
