Peren is a county in the Indian state of Nagaland . It was formed on January 24, 2004 from part of the territory of the Kohima district. The administrative center is the city of Peren . The area of the district is 2300 km². According to the 2001 All-India Census, the district had a population of 96,825. The adult literacy rate was 54%, which is below the average Indian level (59.5%). 95% of the district's inhabitants profess Christianity .
