In 2005–2009, 142 sports and playgrounds were built in Omsk, 86 of which were with a secure rubber coating “masterfibre”. Sports facilities are being built in a complex with children's playgrounds (since 2006 - on the Left Bank). In 2009, 25 rental centers for skates and ski equipment operated in the Topolyny, Yunost sports complexes. S. S. Bovkuna, "Red Star", "Iskra" and others [3] . Also in 2009, nineteen municipal sports schools operated in Omsk (of which three were schools of the Olympic reserve), where about 18 thousand children were involved [3] .

July 25, 1920 in the city of Omsk started the First Siberian Olympiad. Since 1959, the first handball team. In 1965, the women's basketball club Neftyanik was founded. In 1991, the Siberian International Marathon began .

Omsk gave Russia several Olympic champions, including Alexander Muzychenko (1980 champion in Zvezdniy class sailing) [5] , Alexey Tishchenko (two-time Olympic boxing champion ) and Evgeny Kanaeva (two-time Olympic champion in rhythmic gymnastics 2008 and 2012 years).

Hockey

" Arena Omsk " - the main ice arena of the city

Omsk is known for being loved and appreciated by hockey, and fans understand it and are very active with the support of fellow countrymen. Sponsored by Gazprom Neft and under the auspices of the Continental Hockey League , competitions are held for young hockey players who gather a lot of fans and are broadcast live. Gazprom Neft also sponsors the Avangard Club, both adult players and a children's hockey school [6] .

In 1943, the first youth bandy club “Youth” was formed. In 1950, the first Avangard hockey club was formed.

Earlier in the city there was only one hockey school - the Avangard school, and hockey in Omsk could turn into an “elite” sport. However, in 2008, the Ice Palace of Sports was opened. Fetisov, and in 2009 - the Ice Palace of Sports. A. Kozhevnikov [3] .

On the ice of Arena Omsk , matches of the Vostok group and the super final of the International tournament of KHL children's teams Gazprom Neft Cup , one of the largest children's hockey competitions in Europe, are played. In 2016, 26 teams from Russia , Kazakhstan , Belarus , Latvia and Finland participated in it [6] . Before the super final, the teams of Chelyabinsk "Tractor" and Yaroslavl "Lokomotiv" addressed Russian President Vladimir Putin with words of support. The awards were presented to the participants by World and Olympic Games champion Yury Lyapkin and 6-time world and Olympic champion Vladimir Myshkin [7] .

Also in the winter ice pouring in hockey boxes is organized [3] .

Football

In 1909, the first football game was played. In 1910–1916, football teams were formed from high school students and young railway workers, who saw the game in other cities of the country. The place of the games became any grounds where it was possible to temporarily place a football field. The principal games were held at the city hippodrome . In 1920, the first international match in Omsk took place there: the city team played a 1: 1 draw with the Austro-Magyar team, made up of captured foreigners staying in the city.

Football in the city began to develop after the end of World War II . In 1946, the Irtysh Club was formed, speaking from the Aviation Plant named after Yevgeny Aviation Plant evacuated from Zaporizhia . Baranov. He played “Irtysh” at the Dynamo stadium with a capacity of 6,000 people, which was always completely full, and the fans were very active. Later, from the factory team became the regional, and in 1960, having won in the zonal tournament, became the silver medalist of the All-Union Championship. For Omsk football this was the first time; besides, earlier there were no football masters in the city, and as a result of this victory, 13 Irtysh players were assigned to the title of “ Master of Sports of the USSR ”, including Viktor Ledovskikh [8] .

Irtysh is the most famous team in the region, and the USSR Master of Sports Viktor Ledovskikh was one of its first coaches [8] .

After retirement, Viktor Ledovskikh organized the Omsk Football Museum, located in the assembly hall of the Red Star arena. The museum was popular with both schoolchildren and respectable people, and received good reviews. However, in 2013, with the change of the official responsible for the sport, the director of the sports complex was changed, and the museum was disbanded. The surviving exhibits are stored in the switchboard room [8] .

Equestrian sport

Arrival at the Omsk Hippodrome

Equestrian sport is popular [9] . Omsk is the only city in Siberia where a full-fledged hippodrome [10] operates, which appeared in 1888 and has not changed its location since then. The equestrian base in the Omsk region of the Omsk region, where the city’s “Center for Equestrian Sport and Modern Pentathlon” is based, has the right to hold all-Russian show jumping competitions along with three other Russian bases located in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Khanty-Mansiysk [11] .

In July 2014, the All-Russian Equestrian Festival was held at the Omsk Hippodrome. A qualifying tournament for the World Cup stage [11] and the All-Russian equestrian competition “Omsk jumping”, held on a par with the tournaments of Moscow and St. Petersburg, are also held here. In the competition there is a continuity of generations (after the parents are their children), there are sporting results of the international level [12] .

Sailing

In 1911, the first sailing races in Siberia took place in Omsk.

Omsk gave Russia in 1980 the Olympic champion in the elite class "Star" Alexander Muzychenko .

One of the main links of the Omsk sailing school is the budgetary institution "Sailing Center", in Polezhayev times known as the "Omsk Governor's Yacht Club". It is located on the Green Island in the city center. The yacht club was formed around the yacht "Siberia", the first in the world to make a single transarctic round-the-world trip. In 2015, a wakeboarding track was launched here; more than 10 years, there has been an unofficial cooperation by athletes in rowing and canoeing. In the entire Omsk region, only here primary training of children in sailing is conducted, supplemented by a circle of yachting in the city Palace of creativity, where yacht club coaches work. The Palace does not have its own water station, and for the past 14 years it has been using the material base of the yacht club, and the yacht club, in turn, uses, stores and repairs the children's fleet of the Palace of Creativity [5] .

In 2016, funding for the yacht club completely stopped, and he was on the verge of liquidation. The emerging practice of implementing a public-private partnership in the field of physical culture and sports can be interrupted if this budget institution is attached to another - the Omsk regional center for sports training, and the entire material base (including about 8 hectares in the green zone in the very center of Omsk) will be transferred to the non-profit partnership to improve the conditions of recreation of citizens in the park "Green Island". In this case, the training of children in sailing in Omsk will stop [5] .

Other Sports

Boxing was represented by the Maluntsev tournament from 1968 to 2003. The Olympic champion Alexander Lebzyak , the champion of the USSR Alexander Ostrovsky and the two-time Olympic champion Alexey Tishchenko took part in it . In 2016, the leadership of the boxing federation and the Omsk refinery resumed the competition, 120 junior boxers in eleven weight categories participate in the championship tournament in the Siberian Federal District [13] .

Cycling is gaining popularity (to a large extent it became available to Omsk children thanks to the equipped BMX tracks). Velodromes operate in all urban districts, not only professionals compete for them, but also amateur sportsmen and children [3] .

Since 2006, the aeronautical sport has been developed, which has arisen thanks to the Federation of Aeronautical Sports of Omsk and the region and the director of the Pilot Club, Ilya Orlov. In addition, the services of lifting balloons are in demand among lovers making a wedding proposal. Takeoffs occur from the airfield Kalachevo [14] .
