Sport in Omsk

Omsk is known for being loved and appreciated by hockey, and fans understand it and are very active with the support of fellow countrymen. Sponsored by Gazprom Neft and under the auspices of the Continental Hockey League , competitions are held for young hockey players who gather a lot of fans and are broadcast live. Gazprom Neft also sponsors the Avangard Club, both adult players and a children's hockey school ^[6] .

In 1943, the first youth bandy club “Youth” was formed. In 1950, the first Avangard hockey club was formed.

After retirement, Viktor Ledovskikh organized the Omsk Football Museum, located in the assembly hall of the Red Star arena. However, in 2013, with the change of the official responsible for the sport, the director of the sports complex was changed, and the museum was disbanded. One of the main links of the Omsk sailing school is the budgetary institution "Sailing Center", in Polezhayev times known as the "Omsk Governor's Yacht Club". Boxing was represented by the Maluntsev tournament from 1968 to 2003. The Olympic champion Alexander Lebzyak , the champion of the USSR Alexander Ostrovsky and the two-time Olympic champion Alexey Tishchenko took part in it . In 2016, the leadership of the boxing federation and the Omsk refinery resumed the competition, 120 junior boxers in eleven weight categories participate in the championship tournament in the Siberian Federal District ^[13] .

Cycling is gaining popularity (to a large extent it became available to Omsk children thanks to the equipped BMX tracks). Velodromes operate in all urban districts, not only professionals compete for them, but also amateur sportsmen and children ^[3] .

Since 2006, the aeronautical sport has been developed, which has arisen thanks to the Federation of Aeronautical Sports of Omsk and the region and the director of the Pilot Club, Ilya Orlov.
