Biography
Born on April 25, 1921 in the village of Peskovatka (now within the city of Liski, Voronezh Region), in a peasant family. Russian .
He graduated from 7 classes. He worked in the city of Rossosh in the catering system.
In the Red Army from March 1942 , from the same year - at the front. He graduated from the accelerated courses of the artillery school in 1943 . Member of the CPSU (b) since 1943. Fought at Leningrad and in the Baltics.
The commander of the battery of the 500th mortar regiment, Senior Lieutenant Mitrofan Mashin, distinguished himself in battle near the village of Chekins [1] ( Balvi district of the Latvian SSR ). On July 27, 1944, his battery beat off 6 enemy counterattacks. Having lost his hands in battle, Mashin did not leave the observation post, continuing to manage the battery fire. With the breakthrough of enemy machine guns to the NP - caused a fire on himself. Died in this battle.
He died on September 27, 1944 . He was buried in the village of Tsukusala ( Latvian. Cūkusala ), Rugai region , Latvia .
Awards
- The title of Hero of the Soviet Union (posthumously) was awarded by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945 .
