Acid house ( English acid house ) (in the lane with the English - "acid house", from the "acid" and the club Warehouse) - a style of electronic music that belongs to the category of house music. The acid house first appeared in the mid -1980s when Chicago musicians DJ Pierre , Adonis, Kate Williams (better known as Farley Jackmaster Funk) and others began mixing house style elements with heavy music and bass parts played on a Roland TB- synthesizer 303 . Initially, the acid house was predominantly a Chicago phenomenon, but then it was picked up by the British, who played this music at dance parties in 1986-1987. Acid house gained wide popularity at the famous festival " Summer of Love ", which was held in the summer of 1988 . Records M / A / R / R / S , S'Express and Technotronic , recorded in this style, instantly rose to first position in the British charts. The emblem of those events is a yellow emoticon. From other directions, this one is distinguished by an abundance of trip synthesizer sounds, as well as a deeper psychedelic sound. A very important factor is the almost complete lack of vocals.

Acid Tracks
It is believed that the first acid house track was the “Acid Tracks” track by Phuture , which was recorded at the end of 1985 . Phuture is three people: DJ Pierre, Herb Jackson and Earl Smith, nicknamed Spanky. Later, in one of his interviews, one of the Phuture participants - DJ Pierre, said: “I wanted to do what I heard in the Music Box or what Ferley played on the radio. In the album “Acid Tracks” everything was done by accident, because none of us knew how this damn 303rd works. I started twisting the handles at random, and it all looked like “Oh, look how you can still do it!”. And then we finished playing with the synthesizer, set the rhythm and wrote “In Your Mind” on the tape. With this track we went down in history. "
As regular visitors to the cult Chicago club Music Box, they carried their cassette to the main DJ of the city - Ron Hardy (Ron Hardy), and it all depended on his opinion. If he liked the music - it means everything worked out, if not - then you could forget about the experiments. Ron Hardy liked their track. During that night, he put this track four times, and the first three times the dance floor was empty, but as various drugs affected visitors, they became more susceptible to unusual music. For the fourth time, the club simply met this track with thunderous applause and the craziest dances that one could imagine. The track was originally called “In Your Mind” , but it was so beloved by the club's regulars that they started calling it “Ron Hardy's Acid Tracks,” because the club used LSD . In the end, the name was reduced to "Acid Tracks" and thus began to call music with a similar sound and rhythm an acid house (the name of the style was first proposed by the leader of the Psychic TV collective, Genesis P. Orridge ).
As the rave became more and more popular, the acid house went underground. Since the name of the style evoked direct associations with drugs , this led in the late 1980s to ban Acid House music on radio, television and music stores in the UK . That is why the style has moved into the category of “underground”, although rumors about the connection of this music with an unhealthy lifestyle were largely deliberately inflated by the press and may not correspond to the real state of affairs.
Nowadays, musicians working in the acid house style have moved away from using only the sounds of TB-303 , but the style still remains true to its roots - repeating sequences that are modulated and deformed throughout the composition.
