Ė , ė ( E with a dot on top ) is the letter of the expanded Latin alphabet used in the Lithuanian and Cheyenne languages , as well as in the Cologne dialect of the German language and the transcription of the reconstructed Türkic proto-language .

In Lithuanian, Ė is the ninth letter of the alphabet . Indicates sound [ e ː ]. The letter was introduced into circulation by the 17th century Lithuanian spiritual writer Daniel Klein . Example: lit. kavinė (“kavine”) - “ coffee shop ”.
Also used in the Cologne dialect of the German language : for example, it. ėnnsel - “island”.
