Contemporaries of A. M. Sazonov

The commander of the guard division, Major General Alexander Mikhailovich Sazonov, was a very demanding and fair person. Outwardly calm and balanced, before making a decision, he thoroughly weighed all the pros and cons. Having made a decision, he put it into practice with his characteristic perseverance and firmness. As soon as a difficult situation developed somewhere, the general, with the division’s artillery commander and intelligence chief, headed for this section and from there led the battle.
