Dissemination and ecology
The species range covers Central Asia ( Pamir-Alai and Tien Shan ), India , Pakistan and Afghanistan .
It grows in melting snow, in the mountains near glaciers at an altitude of 1800-4000 m above sea level.
Botanical Description
The bulb is ovate-oblong, oblate, 1.5–3 cm long, 1–2.5 cm wide, with brown membranous membranes.
Leaves 3-4, shortened during flowering, grooved, later linear reed, up to 15 cm long, 8-15 mm wide, blunt, bare along the edge.
Yellow flowers , 1-3 in number, appear simultaneously with leaves, perianth tube 3–7 mm long, yellowish or violet, perianth 1.5–2.6 cm long, 5–7 mm wide, upright, bright yellow, linear -reverse lanceolate, blunt. Anthers yellow, erect, narrowly linear, many times greater than stamens ; columns are yellow, threadlike.
The box is ovoid, up to 2.5 cm long.
It blooms in April - July.
