Employees of the sanitary and epidemiological service of Russia celebrate their professional holiday every year on September 15. In 2012, Order No. 802 of Rospotrebnadzor of August 1, 2012 establishes a commemorative medal "90 years of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of Russia", which encourages individuals who have made a significant contribution to the development of the state sanitary and epidemiological service, ensuring the sanitary and epidemiological welfare of the population and protecting consumer rights. The order also provides a graphic sample and a description of the medal. This professional holiday, to this day, is not included in the official all-Russian list of holiday dates in the prescribed manner, unlike in Ukraine, where it also became official relatively recently.

The Day of Workers of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of Ukraine (in Ukrainian. Day of Pravtsіvnikіv of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service ) is a national professional holiday of the workers of the sanitary and epidemiological service , which is celebrated in the Republic of Ukraine every year , on the second Sunday of October ^[2] .

Although SES was established in the country more than eight decades ago, the “Day of Sanitary-Epidemiological Service Workers” in Ukraine received the status of an official state professional holiday not so long ago, in 2004 , after October 5, 2004 in the capital of the Ukrainian Republic the hero-city Kiev , the second president of Ukraine Leonid Danilovich Kuchma , “ noting the significant contribution of the workers of the state sanitary and epidemiological service in ensuring the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population, ” signed Decree N 1178/2004 “ On the Day of Workers of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service ”. The decree of the head of state prescribed “ Establish a professional holiday in Ukraine - the Day of State Sanitary-Epidemiological Service Workers, which is celebrated annually on the second Sunday of October ” ^[3] .

In 2006 , the third president of Ukraine, Viktor Andreyevich Yushchenko, congratulating the SES employees on their professional holiday, said the following words, which vividly characterize the responsibility assigned to the workers of this state structure:

“Day of workers of the sanitary-epidemiological service” is not a non-working day if, depending on the year , it does not fall on a day off .
