General Information
Valievye - ancient plants: there is an estimate according to which the first representatives of the family appeared about 83 million years ago [2] .
Representatives of the genus - grass or shrubs with dense glandular pubescence. Leaves are opposite. The flowers are small, with free petals . Seeds - with scanty endosperm [2] .
The number of chromosomes : n = 6, 9 [2] .
Classification
In the classification systems of Kronquist (1981) and Takhtadzhyan (1997), the Valievian family was part of the Saxifragales order, however, in the systems of the APG group, the family was not included in any orders. In the APG III Classification System (2009), the family is part of the informal group lamiids (euasterids I), which, in turn, is part of the asterids group, while the authors of the system note that the relationship between this family and the Boraginaceae family , also located at the base of the lamiids group (euasterids I), continue to remain unclear [2] [3] .
The synonymics of the genus includes the name Bistella Adans. (1763) , nom. rej. [four]
