Lebedinsky, Andrey Vladimirovich

Andrei Vladimir Lebedinsky ( April 29, 1902 - January 3, 1965 ) - Soviet physiologist and biophysicist, academician of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences (1960), major general of the medical service (1949), honored worker of science of the RSFSR (1958).

Father - V.K. Lebedinsky

  • 1924 - graduated from the Military Medical Academy in Leningrad.
  • 1936 - 1954 - worked at the Department of Physiology of the Military Medical Academy.
  • 1954 - 1963 - Director of the Institute of Biophysics of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR
  • 1963 - Director of the Institute of Biomedical Problems of the Ministry of Health of the USSR .

The main scientific works are devoted to biophysics and physiology of vision. He studied the mechanisms of adaptation of the eye to the dark (1948). Investigated the functions of analyzers. He deepened scientific ideas about the interaction of afferent systems. He investigated the effect on the body of ionizing radiation and ultrasound.

Representative of the USSR to the United Nations on radiobiology (1955-1958).

He was awarded 2 Orders of Lenin, 4 other orders, as well as medals.
