World map in isometric projection of Molveide with plotted distortion ellipses
Isometric projection is one of the main types of cartographic projections .
It does not distort areas and maintains a uniform scale of areas on the entire map, due to which the areas of the figures on the map are proportional to the areas of the corresponding figures in reality, but at the same time, the distortions of angles and shapes are strong.
Used for small-scale construction. If it depicts a large territory, then to the edges of the map, the distortions of the outlines become significant.
