History
The regiment was formed in September 1940.
As part of the army during the Great Patriotic War from June 22, 1941 to May 31, 1943.
On June 22, 1941, it is based at the aerodromes near Tallinn : Lagsberg (56 I-153 ) and Ulemiste (3 MiG-3 , 8 Yak-1 , 3 I-15 bis , 2 UT-1 , 1 UT-2 , 3 U- 2 ).
Since the beginning of the war, Tallinn has been covering from the air the islands of the Moonsund archipelago . In August 1941, the regiment was mainly involved in striking and covering attacks on enemy convoys that were moving towards Tallinn, operating in the areas of Narva , Kingisepp , Volosovo , and also covering convoys of ships that were evacuated from Tallinn. At the end of August 1941, the remnants of the regiment flew to Leningrad .
In September 1941, the regiment operates over Leningrad and its immediate approaches - Gatchina , Oranienbaum , Pushkin , Strelna , Uritsk , Pulkovo , Krasnoe Selo . September 24, 1941 flew to Kronstadt and from that time was responsible for covering the naval base in Kronstadt. He was stationed at the Bull Field near Kronstadt. In November 1941, a separate squadron of I-16 and I-15 bis formed from the regiment flew to New Ladoga , where it operates in the Tikhvin direction and over the Road of Life . The regiment acts on Kronstadt before the transformation, reflects the attacks of enemy aircraft striking at Kronstadt, laying mines in the Gulf of Finland, and carries out anti-landing attacks on the islands.
In the summer of 1942, he had about 20 combat - capable I-16 and I-153 .
From the beginning of the war until October 23, 1942, the regiment's pilots flew 15,962 sorties, of which 3,715 - to attack. Moreover, according to the reports of the regiment, 31 tanks, 40 tankettes, more than 700 vehicles with troops and cargo were destroyed and destroyed, 37 anti-aircraft guns were destroyed, 3 steam locomotives, 58 wagons, more than 200 anti-aircraft machine-gun points, 10 fuel depots were blown up and ammunition, sunk 14 small ships of the enemy. In air battles, 143 enemy planes and 5 barrage balloons were shot down.
In 1943, it was rearmed with Yak-7 aircraft.
On May 31, 1943, by Order of the People's Commissar of the Navy No. 190 “for the courage shown in air battles with the Nazi invaders, for stamina, courage, discipline and organization, for the heroism of the personnel”, it was transformed into the 10th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment of the Baltic Fleet Air Force .
