Lum is a village in the Yaran district of the Kirov region , located on the banks of the Lum River. Included in the Shkalansky rural settlement [2] .

In the village there is a medical assistant, House of Culture. Two sawmills work, the main population works on the preparation of saw-timber-materials.
The 9-year-old high school closed in 2007 .
First mentioned in 1787 . In 1910 , the brick church of John the Baptist was built in Lum [3] . In the late 1930s, it was closed, but in 2014 it was completely restored and put into operation. The residents themselves took part in the restoration. The main financial costs were incurred by the Starikov family, and Andrei Yurievich Starikov (owner of the local sawmill) was involved in resolving all issues.
