He studied in Prague with Jan August Vitasek and Joseph Proks . From 1844 he worked as an organist and choirmaster in various churches in Prague, since 1849 he also taught. Since 1858 , the director of the Prague School of Organists, in 1865 he headed the Prague Conservatory . The author of three masses and other church music, clavier and organ compositions. In an aesthetic sense, gravitated to German tradition, was a fan of Richard Wagner and was an opponent of Bedřich Smetana , who also claimed the post of head of the Prague Conservatory, but the Board of Trustees preferred Kreichi. Among the students of Kreichi are Wilhelm Kinzl , Vladislav Zhelensky , Alfred Grünfeld , Vaclav Suk .
