Inverse therapy

Aversive therapy is a therapy aimed at causing unpleasant sensations from a bad habit in a person with addiction. The patient is given medication, a course of treatment is prescribed, after which he gets rid of drugs, alcohol, etc. After the course of treatment, the patient has unpleasant associations that prevent a return to addictions. Aversive therapy is widely used in centers for the treatment of drug addiction , alcoholism , etc. [1]

The attitude to this method of treatment is ambiguous. It is believed that this method has a relatively low efficiency and not always can provide a cure for addiction. Also, extremely severe vegetative manifestations necessary for a full course of therapy adversely affect the patient's health and quality of life. [2]
