Short Biography

Born on August 5, 1944 in Leningrad, three months after his birth, the whole family moved to Don [1] .

Father died at the front, his mother after the war remained disabled , having received serious spinal injuries [2] .

Due to the difficult financial situation of the family, Boris, already after the 9th grade of secondary school, worked at the factory as a locksmith and a turner [2] .

In the army he served in the airborne troops [1] .

Having visited the concert of Bulat Okudzhava in the early 1960s, Almazov begins to write his own songs. One of his first known songs was Rain Boy and Song about the Dog (1962) [1] .

From 1962 to 1968, Almazov studied at the Leningrad State Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography [1] . In parallel, he is engaged in journalism, as well as moonlighting as a loader, geologist and massage therapist in a hospital [1] .

After graduation, he teaches at the school the history of art discipline (was there such a subject in a Soviet school?) . After working for about 20 years at school, Almazov creates his own teaching methodology for this discipline, and by publishing a number of scientific papers, he becomes a member of the Russian Pedagogical Society, being one of the best specialists in the field of art history [2] .

In 1990, Almazov began to participate in the revival of the Cossacks and gradually became practically the ideologist of the Russian " Union of Cossacks ." First, he was elected the first ataman of St. Petersburg, and then the entire North-West separate Cossack district [2] .

Helping immigrants from the Far North, Almazov developed a special program that he presented to the government of the Komi Republic . The program was approved, it gave its results. The effective work of Almazov did not go unnoticed: in 1996, by decision of the government of the republic, a Representation of the Komi Republic in the North-West Region appeared in St. Petersburg, which Almazov was proposed to head. In this ministerial post, Almazov worked until 2002.

Daughter - Alexandra Almazova , leader of the popular Non Cadenza group.
