Murray Weidenbaum ( born Murray Lew Weidenbaum ; February 10, 1927 , New York - March 20, 2014 ) is an American economist .

Bachelor of City College ( New York ), MA from Columbia University and Ph.D. at Princeton . Since 1964, he taught at the University of Washington in St. Louis .
In 1969-1971, the US Under Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy.
Chairman of the Presidential Council of Economic Advisers (1981-1982).
Adam Smith Prize Laureate (1996).
In 1975, he participated in the creation of the Center for American Business Studies at the University of Washington, which has been called the Weidenbaum Center since 2001.
