The river flows in the Western Cape of South Africa . Its length is 337 kilometers, the basin area is about 12 384 km². It flows into the Indian Ocean . At the mouth is the port of Beaufort. At the mouth of the river are the administrative borders of the Eden and districts.
It has a number of tributaries. The river’s waters are used for irrigation; a number of dams have been built on it. Used for hiking, it does not have hippos, and crocodiles. The Bride Valley is one of the four main wine producing regions of the country.
