Biography

Dan Beaton was born on December 19, 1960 .

In 1979, Beaton was called up for service in the Israel Defense Forces , and began serving in the armored forces.

At the end of the officer’s courses, he was the commander of a tank platoon and the commander of a tank company in the Kfir armored brigade, and then the commander of a tank company, deputy battalion commander, and the commander of the operational department of the Bnei-Or armored training brigade.

Then he was appointed commander of the Sufa tank battalion of the Kfir armored brigade. Later, he was the commander of the operational department of the Gaash armored division and an instructor in the course of company and battalion commanders ( Hebrew קמ"פ-קמ"ג ).

Then he was appointed commander of the armored brigade "Merkavot ha-Barzel", and from August 1995 to August 1997 he led the armored brigade " Saar mi-Golan ." From 1997 to 1999 he commanded the Bnei-Or armored brigade [1] . Later he headed the reserve division "Etgar" and commanded the course of company commanders and battalions.

In 2002, Beaton was appointed commander of the National Center for the Training of Ground Forces ( Hebrew מל"י ) [2] , at the same time he commanded the Sinai armored division, and in 2005 was appointed head of the Doctrine and Instruction Unit ( Hebrew חטיבת תורה והדרכה ) The operational management of the General Staff of the army.

In November 2007, Beaton was awarded the rank of Major General, and he was appointed head of the Technology and Logistics Directorate of the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces [3] , replacing Major General Avi Mizrahi .

On March 5, 2012, Beaton transferred the command of the Office of Technology and Logistics to Major General Kobe Barak and went on vacation on the eve of leaving the army [4] .

During his service, Beaton received a bachelor's degree from Tel Aviv University (in the field of history) and a master's degree from the University of Haifa (in the field of political science).

He also graduated from the Command and Staff College and the National Security College of the Israel Defense Forces.

Married, father of four children.
