Biography of the Moscow house

In the mid-1970s, Yuri Nikolayevich Alexandrov (1921-2009), a local historian, headed the editorial board of Moscow literature of the Moscow Worker publishing house ^[1] . Once, in Penza, he visited an exhibition of one painting - the work of Borovikovsky (1757-1825), from the collection of the Tretyakov Gallery . The picture hung alone, without any background, was beautifully illuminated. The exhibition led him to the idea that something similar could be done in local history: to focus on one object, which in the general row, is not striking. So two series of local history brochures appeared - “Biography of the Moscow House” and “ Biography of the Moscow Monument ” ^[2] .

The books of the series were published quite regularly until 1991 , when only one book was published. After the collapse of the USSR , another attempt to continue the series took place in 1994 , also in one edition. In 1997 , on the eve of the celebration of the 850th anniversary of Moscow , it was planned to resume the release of the series in an updated form: collection books with stories about two or three Moscow houses, made in colorful hard covers , with a large number of black and white illustrations. ^[3]
