General characteristics
The archaeological culture is called parks at Lake Surtanda .
The settlements of Surtanda culture were located mainly in the low terraces of the lakeshores and had no fortifications. The dwellings were semi-dugouts and dugouts with hearths, plank beds and walls. The walls were reinforced with stone slabs, and the roof was covered with a timbered coasting.
Surtanda settlement is located in the Abzelilovsky district of Bashkortostan , 40 km from the city of Magnitogorsk . It is characterized by an abundance of stone tools made of jasper (arrowheads, knives, scrapers, hammers, graters) and single products from the Ural native copper, ceramics and ornaments on the dishes.
Found bones of domestic animals - sheep, cattle, dominated by horses . Funerary monuments not found.
The population of Surtanda culture was formed on the basis of local tribes of the Neolithic era. At the end of III millennium BC it settled in the valleys of the Ai , Urshak , Yuryuzan rivers. The population was engaged in hunting, fishing and cattle breeding. In the east, the tribes of this archaeological culture became one of the components of the formation of the population of the Alakul culture , and in the west, the Abashev culture .
