Story
The film begins with a picture of the consequences of a mysterious catastrophe - the island of Baath has disappeared. Godzilla attacks Hong Kong , while it is clear that something is obviously wrong with him - his body is hot and in the chest resembles a lava clot. Later, analyzing this, scientists come to the conclusion that the monster's heart is a nuclear reactor , and it went down, somehow, the recent disaster affected it. To prevent further overheating and, as a result, a nuclear explosion, the Japanese government sends a specially equipped Super X-3 aircraft with freezing weapons to the attack and cools the monster. It helps, but only for a while.
Meanwhile, discoveries are being made one after another in the scientific community - in one of the laboratories of Tokyo, they managed to create micro-oxygen (gas consisting of reduced atoms), these are the weapons that once defeated the very first Godzilla , but they plan to use it for exclusively peaceful purposes. In parallel, the view of living creatures that lived on Earth 2.5 billion years ago was discovered; these are microscopic creatures comparable to bacteria, but improper handling of microorganism leads to the degeneration of microorganisms into many monsters the size of large animals. The Japanese armed forces are fighting them with varying success, as a result, the creatures unite into a single giant monster of the Destroyer, who has also absorbed the micro-acid weapon. Seeing the impotence of the army, the command decides to set off two monsters, they arrange a meeting, using the son of Godzilla as a bait. The kid defeats the young form of the Destroyer, manages to meet with Godzilla, but then dies dramatically in an unequal fight with the final form of the Destroyer. Godzilla Sr., overcoming the pain of loss and overheating of his huge body, destroys the Destroyer several times in a row, but he miraculously rises again. When Godzilla defeats the Destroyer, his temperature reaches 1,192 degrees. Godzilla melts at 1200 degrees. Super X-3 controls the collapse, minimizing the destruction in the city.
After Godzilla melted, a lot of radiation had to stand out (which the characters repeatedly mention during the film), and immediately after Godzilla's father died, one of the heroines was surprised to find that all the radiation had been absorbed. The silhouette of Toddler Godzilla appears in the fog, which is apparently being revived thanks to the energy directed to his body by his father. Now he has grown up, and is ready to take on the title of "King of Monsters".

Proceedings
Initially, the film company "Toho" was going to shoot another film, the main character of which would have already become Little Godzilla. But in connection with the death in 1993 of the director Isiro Honda , who shot the first Godzilla , as well as the box-office failures of Godzilla vs. Mehagodzilla 2 and Godzilla against Cosmic Godzilla , it was decided to end the Godchilla against Destroyer. As in the case of Terror Mehagodzilla , Toho was not going to stop producing films about Godzilla. The break was taken due to the fact that in the United States by that time, TriStar was preparing to release its series of films about Godzilla, and Toho was planning to resume work in 2004 (on the occasion of the 50th anniversary). However, due to the fact that the very first American “Godzilla” was negatively perceived by fans of the Japanese Godzilla, “Toho” decided not to wait for 2004.
DVD release
The film was released by Sony on DVD in 2000 on the same disc as Godzilla vs. Cosmic Godzilla .
