Rule 17 of the Rules of the game of football - governs the execution of a corner kick.
Definition
Corner kick is a way to resume the game. A corner kick is awarded when the ball, the last time it touched the player of the defending team, completely crossed the goal line on the ground or in the air, and in accordance with Rule 10 , a goal was not scored. A goal scored by an opposing team directly from a corner kick counts. A goal scored in their own goal directly from a corner kick does not count.
Procedure
The ball is installed inside the corner sector closest to the place where the ball crossed the goal line, at a fixed flagpole. The opponents are at a distance of not less than 9.15 m (10 yards) from the corner sector until the ball enters the game. The ball is considered in the game when it is hit and it is in motion. A player who has completed a shot cannot touch the ball until he (the ball) touches any other player or leaves the game.
Violations and Punishment
If a player who has performed a corner kick repeatedly touches the ball (not with his hands) before the ball touches any other player, then the opposing team gains the right to perform a free kick from the place where it touched.
If the player repeatedly touches the ball with his hands:
- If this is the goalkeeper within the penalty area, then the opposing team gains the right to perform a free kick from the place where the contact occurred;
- If it is a field player or a goalkeeper outside his own penalty area, then, depending on the place of violation, the opposing team gets the right to perform a penalty or 11-meter strike.
In case of other violations, the corner kick is repeated.
