"People's Artist of the Uzbek SSR" - honorary title, established January 16, 1940 . It was appropriated by the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Uzbek SSR to outstanding artists who were particularly distinguished in the development of theater, music and cinema.
As a rule, it was awarded no earlier than five years after the honorary title “ Honored Artist of the Uzbek SSR ” or “ Honored Artist of the Uzbek SSR ”. The next degree of recognition was the awarding of the title of People's Artist of the USSR .
The award was first held in 1932 - Tamara Khanum , a dancer, became the owner of this title.
The last awarded in 1991 was Sharipov Husan Artykovich - actor.
With the collapse of the Soviet Union in Uzbekistan, the title "People's Artist of the Uzbek SSR" was replaced by the title " People's Artist of Uzbekistan ", while the title retained the rights and obligations stipulated by the legislation of the former USSR and the Uzbek SSR on awards.
