Biography

Born on July 6, 1943 in the Rostov region, in the family of Fyodor Mikhailovich (1915–1994) [2] and Raisa Ivanovna (1922–1993) Malikovs. Uncle - Yakov Mikhailovich Malikov (1921-1973).

In 1957 he graduated with honors from the Industrial Technical School in Podolsk. It was there that Yuri seriously became interested in music and began playing the double bass.

In 1958-1960 he studied at the evening music school in Podolsk. At that time, a large symphony orchestra came to the Podolsk from the Moscow Regional Philharmonic. Yuri met with bassist Vladimir Mikhalev, who called him to Moscow and opened the way to a musical professional life.

From 1962-1965 he studied at the Musical College named after Ippolitov-Ivanov.

In 1965–1969, he studied at the Moscow State Conservatory named after P. Tchaikovsky in the double bass class, head of the cello and double bass department - Mstislav Leopoldovich Rostropovich.

In 1970, Yuri Malikov began to create the vocal-instrumental ensemble " Gems ". The first concert took place in the summer of 1971 in the Hermitage hall in Moscow. Among the well-known songs of the group are such as: “I will take you to the tundra”, “My address is the Soviet Union”, “There, beyond the clouds”, “All life ahead”, “This never repeats itself”, “ Everything that exists in life I have ”,“ The crew is one family ”,“ School ball ”(Spanish. Valentin Dyakonov ),“ If we are two ”(Spanish: Anatoly Mogilevsky ),“ Verba ”,“ At the village of Kryukovo ”,“ Good signs ”, "BAMovsky waltz", "Ali Baba", "Salute, festival!", Etc.

In 2000, in connection with the 30th anniversary of the “ Gems ” ensemble, Yuri Malikov received the title of laureate of the national music award “Ovation” and “Golden Gramophone” of Russian Radio.

In 2007, President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin signed a decree conferring the title of People's Artist of the Russian Federation on Yury Fedorovich Malikov for his great services in the development of musical and pop art. [3]

Yuri Malikov is a member of the Presidium of the Correction of the International Union of Pop Artists, he actively participates in the events of the Creative Union. Conducts charitable work in military hospitals for law enforcement officers, for disabled workers and war.

In 2016 he was awarded the Order of Friendship.
