Content
Story
In November 1999, a meeting of the ministers of the member countries of the was held in Seattle, USA World Trade Organization . Tens of thousands of demonstrators, environmentalists and consumer rights activists, trade union and student activists, anarchists and pacifists gathered from around the world, took to the streets of the city in protest against globalization . Among them are the heroes of the film - Django, Sam, Lou and Jay. Each of them has his own reason for being in Seattle, but they are all united by two desires, to be heard and to change the situation in the world. At the same time, the city authorities are keen to show the participants of the conference their hospitality and thwart the plans of the demonstrators.
Nonviolent demonstration in order to stop the WTO negotiations did not give any advantage to either side, therefore the city government wants to get a reason for the violent dispersal of the protesters, many of whom also no longer want to restrain themselves. A full-scale insurgency begins, the mayor of Seattle announces a state of emergency in the city. The streets are dominated by chaos, the building where the WTO meeting takes place is blocked. Residents of Seattle, including besieged mayor Jim Tobin, policeman Dale, fighting riots in the streets, and his pregnant wife, Ella, find themselves under crossfire. From now on, their lives will never be as they were before the “Battle of Seattle” .
Writer and director Stuart Townsend tried to present the events of November 1999 from various points of view. Protesters and police, journalists and bystanders, delegates to the WTO meeting and doctors — all of them voluntarily or involuntarily find themselves on the streets of Seattle these days. The author of the film alternates frames of real events and game scenes. Townsend's main task was to show that ordinary people can change the world.

On the Metacritic website , the film has a rating of 54 out of 100 based on 17 critics' reviews, which corresponds to the status of “mixed or average reviews” [6] .
