Lev Nikolaevich Orekhov ( November 8, 1913 , Tula, Russian Empire - November 6, 1992 , St. Petersburg, Russian Federation) - Soviet artist, painter, graphic artist, member of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists (until 1992 - Leningrad Organization of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR) [ 1] .

Biography
Orekhov Lev Nikolaevich was born on November 8, 1913 in Tula. In 1932 he entered the painting department of the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture , studied with Boris Vogel , Semyon Abugov , Heinrich Pavlovsky .
In 1939, Orekhov graduated from the institute in the workshop of Alexander Osmerkin with the title of artist of painting. Thesis - painting "Rest of the collective farmers at lunchtime on haymaking" [2] . In one issue with Orekhov, Nikolai Andreev, Peter Belousov , Gleb Werner , Alexei Gritsai , Evgeny Zhukov, Mikhail Kozell , Nikolai Timkov , Leah Ostrov , Elena Skuin , Boris Shcherbakov and other young artists who later became famous Soviet painters graduated from the institute.
After graduation, he was drafted into the Red Army, participated in the war with the White Finns . In World War II he fought as a private on the Leningrad Front . He was awarded the medals "For the Defense of Leningrad" and "For the Victory over Germany" [3] .
He participated in exhibitions of Leningrad artists since 1939. In 1946 he was admitted to the Leningrad Union of Artists . He painted portraits, landscapes, still lifes, genre scenes and thematic compositions. The painting of the 1950s is distinguished by its adherence to plein air writing, attention to the transfer of states of a light-air environment and tonal relationships, a lively accented smear. Later in the works, decorativeness and graphicness, the conventionality of the generalized drawing and composition are enhanced. In 1946-1949, he taught at the Department of Monumental and Decorative Painting at the Lvov Higher Industrial College. V. I. Mukhina [4] . In the 1950s he taught at the Leningrad Art and Graphic Pedagogical College [5] .
Orekhov Lev Nikolaevich died on November 6, 1992 in St. Petersburg in the seventy-ninth year of life. His works are in museums and private collections in Russia, France, Germany, the USA and other countries.
