Tanysphyrus is a genus of weevil beetles from the subfamily Brachycerinae .

Description
Beetles are small in size, reaching only 1.2 to 2.7 mm in length. The body is covered with scales (usually vitreous), stocky or elongated oval, with protruding shoulders. The shield is small but distinct. Hips have no teeth, front and middle tibia with a straight or elongated outer outer edge, hind almost straight. Unkus and mukro are. Paws wide, flattened, with a deeply carved third segment. A claw fills the notch of the third segment. Claws simple, free.
Ecology
Larvae are miners .
Adult beetles feed on the leaves of plants from the families of aroid ( Araceae ) and duckweed ( Lemnoideae ). Beetles are common on aquatic plants in ponds , elders , lakes and swamps . Move freely on water. [one]
