Biography
Otiev Victor Alexandrovich was born on February 24, 1935 in the city of Ordzhonikidze (Vladikavkaz), in North Ossetia.
In 1961, Otiev graduated from the I.E. Repin LIZHA in the workshop of Victor Oreshnikov . He studied with Boris Ugarov , Nikita Medovikov , Vladislav Anisovich . He participated in exhibitions since 1950. He painted genre compositions, portraits, landscapes, sketches from nature. One of the leading themes of creativity is equestrian sport. Personal exhibition in Leningrad in the halls of LOSH in 1980. Member of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists since 1967.
The works of the 1950-60s are characterized by wide writing, a lively, energetic brushstroke, interest in transmitting a light-air environment and tonal relationships. Repeatedly worked at the creative base of Leningrad artists in Staraya Ladoga . In the future, plein air writing is supplanted by a decorative-graphic style. The main attention in the works of the 1980s was paid to color and the decorative-planar construction of the composition, the rhythmic organization of the space of the picture. Among the works created by the artist, paintings "Samarkand" [2] , "Samarkand. Teahouse " [3] ," Old Tbilisi " [4] ," Old Tashkent " [5] (all 1959)," Vyritsa "," Arable land "," Stream " [6] (all 1965)," Oleg " [7 ] (1967), “Girlfriends”, “Evening Volkhov” [8] (both 1968), “Race” [9] (1969), “Dzhemete Beach”, “On the Black Sea” [10] (both 1978), “ Ira " [11] [12] (1980)," Herd "(1990)," Winner " [13] (1992) and others.
Otiev Victor Alexandrovich died on June 7, 1999 in St. Petersburg at the sixty-fifth year of his life. His works are in museums and private collections in Russia, Great Britain, France, China, Japan, Germany, Italy and other countries.
