Biography

Origin

Hereditary musician , successor to the family traditions of many generations. Born in the family of Peter Mikhailovich and Maria Semenovna Presnyakov. Mother was an amateur musician, owned many instruments.

Education

In 1957 he entered the Sverdlovsk military school of music students in the clarinet class.

In 1963 he went to study at the Sverdlovsk Music College named after P.I. Tchaikovsky , which he graduated in 1967. During his studies, he became interested in playing the saxophone , which later became his favorite musical instrument. At first, I had to practice secretly, because in those years the school was not welcomed to play this instrument.

Career

1960s

Shortly after graduation, he became a laureate of the Moscow International Festival of Jazz Music as part of the quartet of the outstanding Soviet jazz pianist Boris Rychkov , who became the idol and teacher of the young musician for many years.

In 1965 he performed in one of the oldest Moldavian ensembles - VIA “ Norok ”, which was later banned by order of the Minister of Culture of the USSR Ekaterina Furtseva . The ensemble was given the title “What Guitars Sing About” .

In 1967 he was drafted into the army. At first he served in a sports company, as he was a first-class football player , then he was transferred to the District House of Officers of the city of Sverdlovsk as a musician and led the orchestra there until the end of his service.

In 1965, being the head of the pop ensemble of the Sverdlovsk Philharmonic, he met a young singer Elena Kobzeva . The song of the first rehearsal invited her to her ensemble as a soloist. In 1967, Kobzeva became pregnant by Presnyakov, as a result of which they got married in November 1967 [4] . In March 1968, their son Vladimir was born.

During his service in the army, he became a laureate of several other jazz festivals - a service in the House of Officers allowed enough time to devote to playing his favorite instrument - saxophone . After returning from the army, he worked in the ensemble of the famous singer Gully Nikolaevna Chokheli . Then he was a leader and saxophonist in several other groups.

1970s

"What Guitars Sing About" continued his performances around the country under the leadership until 1975, when he was subjected to repression by the Ministry of Culture and was disbanded. The appearance of a devastating article in the newspaper Pravda , authored by Valentina Terskaya, led to the prohibition of the activities of this ensemble. The set of accusations was standard at that time: “cringing before the West”, “shaggy hairstyles”, “defiant behavior on the stage”, “vile repertoire”, “disgusting costumes”, etc. After this article, they didn’t even hire amateur work , these were very difficult times in moral and material terms .

Salvation came in the fall of 1975 with a call to Sverdlovsk by Yuri Malikov , who invited the Presnyakovs to the newly created ensemble " Gems ". Then a split occurred in the country's most popular ensemble - the musicians left to create the Flame VIA , and Malikov began to recruit new ones. Naturally, he decided to invite such an excellent saxophonist and arranger as Vladimir Presnyakov. Vladimir goes from Sverdlovsk to audition first alone, then calls home to his wife Elena : “They take us, come, we must take a chance!” Together with his parents, son Vladimir also moves to Moscow. I must say that it was a very bold step for those times, given the current situation.

During the work in “Gems” many songs were written that became very popular: “Summer, Summer, Summer”, “Trainer”, “Salute”, “Ali Baba”, “You Say”, “Paper Boat”, “ Dawn - sunset ”, etc.

By the beginning of 1997, Vladimir Presnyakov Sr. was finishing the album of songs that he himself sang (the release never happened).

Along the way, she is working on the second album for the ensemble “Gems”, which was revived in 1995. Disc "Gems" comes out in the fall. The composer and arranger of the songs is Presnyakov Sr. Along with the work in the accompanying group of his son, Vladimir continues to be a fan of jazz. His collection of this music on CDs is one of the most complete in all of Russia. .

In 1998, a disc was released where Presnyakov Sr. performs on the saxophone popular compositions of the 20th century. In the future, Vladimir Petrovich continues to compose for Gems, work with his son and collect jazz albums.
