The Constitution of Luxembourg is the basic law of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg . It was adopted on October 17, 1868 . [1] The Constitution of 1868 entailed radical changes in the foundations of the constitutional order of Luxembourg.
The first constitution in Luxembourg was adopted on October 17, 1841 . [2] It entered into force on January 1, 1842. [3] It was amended on March 20, 1848 [4] and on November 27, 1856 . [five]

- May 15, 1919 - national sovereignty passes from the monarch to the people (art. 32). The monarch was deprived of the right to enter into a secret contract (Art. 37). The Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg had to ratify the treaty for it to enter into force (Art. 37). [6]
- April 28, 1948 - Luxembourg is defined as a "free, independent and indivisible state." [7]
- May 6, 1948 - the regulation of the use of language in legal and judicial matters became regulated by law, and not require equal treatment from French and German (Article 29) [8] .
- May 15, 1948 - Suffrage in Luxembourg was restricted. Electoral rights were enjoyed by citizens of Luxembourg over the age of 21 and who had full political rights, and the deputies should have been at least 25 years old (Article 52). [9]
