Laskin, Boris Savelevich

Born in a Jewish family. Father Saveliy Moiseevich died immediately after his birth. In 1918, he moved with his mother Rosa Solomonovna and brother Mark to Moscow . He graduated from the screenwriting faculty of VGIK in 1935 . From 1938 he worked in the cinema.

He died on August 22, 1983 in Moscow. He was buried at the Donskoy Cemetery in Moscow.

According to the script written by Evgeny Pomeshchikov, the action began in the Far East, in a tank unit. The regimental commander spoke kind parting words to the soldiers leaving after the end of their service to the reserve. However, during the development of the director's script, it was decided to start the film not from this scene, but from a song. There was no song. And then Pyryev invited the poet Boris Laskin to himself and told him that he needed a song that would reflect the theme of the defense of our borders, the feat of the glorious tank heroes, participants of the battles on Hassan .
"Clear? Pyryev asked and added in a tone that would not allow objections, the song should be ready tomorrow at one o'clock ... "
“I said that I would think about it,” B. Laskin recalled, “and came out of the director somewhat confused. I have never been to the border, I have not seen the fighting of our tankers, although by that time I had already served the army and therefore I had a definite understanding of this formidable type of troops. The events that took place in the Far East, at that time, were very keenly felt by all Soviet people. I thought about them too. And the lines began to take shape:

At the border of the clouds walk gloomily,

The edge of a severe silence embraced.

Sentinel Homelands are worth ...

With the text ready, Laskin went to the Pokrass brothers, the authors of the music of the future film. “It’s hard to believe,” he said later, “but the song was ready in 30-40 minutes. It was that happy occasion when the words and the melody immediately found each other. ” ^[2]
