Both countries are full members of the Council of Europe , the OSCE and the UN .
For the first time in the history of bilateral relations, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Luxembourg on May 24, 2007 . The volume of trade has more than tripled (66.6 million US dollars in 2003 to 228.3 million US dollars in 2006). Russia and Luxembourg cooperate in the field of finance and energy [1] [2] .

Workers from Russia in Luxembourg
In 1926, about 100 families of white emigrants, mostly former officers, immigrated from Bulgaria to Luxembourg to work in heavy industry enterprises [3] .
Since 1982, the Russian Orthodox Church has been operating in Luxembourg.
As of April 2010, 979 Russians were registered in Luxembourg [4] .
