| Coelophysidae , Paul 1988 |
In cladistics , celophysids were originally identified by Paul Sereno in 1998 as a group descended from a common ancestor of celophysis ( Coelophysis bauri ) and a propsogne ( Procompsognathus triassicus ), and includes all descendants of a common ancestor.
Celophysids are part of the Coelophysoidea clade. The old term “Podokesauridae”, introduced 14 years earlier before Celophysids (and having a higher priority than the current term), is now usually ignored, since its type specimen was destroyed in fire and can no longer be used for comparison with new finds [ 1] [2] .
