The son of a judge, Beaumont, after his death, left Oxford University and almost became a lawyer . The earliest of his works is the poem “ Hermaphrodite and Salmakid ” (1602) abounding in long pieces on a mythological plot drawn from Ovid . From 1607 he lived in the same house with his co-author John Fletcher . By 1613, they jointly wrote at least 10 plays. At one time they were the most popular and sought-after playwrights in England, but later lost in the shadow of Shakespeare . Their plays “ Philastre ”, “ The tragedy of the girl ”, “ The king and not the king ” retain their lasting importance.

At the age of 30, he married a rich heiress and abandoned literary activity. He died two years later and was buried in Westminster Abbey ( Corner of Poets ).

It is believed that Fletcher and Beaumont comedy succeeded better tragedy and that they freely connected elements of these genres . At present, literary critics distinguish the creative techniques of Fletcher and Beaumont, although traditionally it was believed that they "grew together into one author."

According to Dryden , Beaumont differed impeccable literary taste and it was at his court that Ben Johnson himself presented his works. Of the independent plays of Beaumont, the parody of "The Knight of the Flaming Pestle " is preserved.
