Etotoin is an antiepileptic drug from the group of hydantoin derivatives , which in its action is probably similar to phenytoin . It has an antiepileptic effect without causing general inhibition of the central nervous system. Side effects of phenytoin are not inherent in etotoin, however it is less effective. In combination with the need for regular intake, this has led to the fact that etotoin is not currently widely used.
