“ Got My Mind Set on You ” (a Russian song . My thoughts are about you only ) is a song originally written by Rudy Clark and recorded by James Ray in 1962, but better known in a cover version of George Harrison . The Harrison version was released in October 1987 as a single, and a month later also appeared on the album Cloud Nine . In January 1988, the single rose to the first line of the Billboard Hot 100 chart , becoming the third (after “ My Sweet Lord ” in 1970 and “ Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth) ” in 1973) and Harrison’s last solo single, which conquered american charts. In the UK, the single lasted four weeks at # 2 in the charts. On the side of the "B" single Harrison's song "Lay His Head" was released. The song was produced by Harrison himself and Jeff Lynn from the Electric Light Orchestra . Gary Ways made two music videos for the song, in the first of which a young Alexis Denisoff [1] starred, and in the second - only Harrison himself [2] . The second clip was often broadcast on MTV and received a nomination at the MTV Video Music Awards in the category “best video clip of the year” [2] .
